We strive to provide an exceptional fishing and dining experience

committed to excellence

Our aim is to nurture a love for angling and the outdoors in a welcoming environment, while offering fresh, locally-sourced cuisine that celebrates our regional heritage.

Embrace the day with a Full Scottish Breakfast and round it off with a Sunday Roast, as The Waterfront’s menu pays tribute to both time-honoured and contemporary dishes.

Embracing sustainable practices, we don’t use any chemicals in our trout lochs, instead we do all the weeding by hand. This is labour intensive, but worth it to achieve our aim of crystal clear water and healthy strong fish.

Fishing Prices

Equipment Sale & Hire

quick start fishing

The Waterfront offers everything you need for a day of fishing, whether on the Fly Loch or Bait Loch - including Rods, Reels and a selection of flies or bait, particular for the time of year.

Tuition is available as needed, with qualified instructors. Please enquire to book your Instruction in advance, or learn about Teaching Days.

We supply Maxcatch Rods and Reels, and offer a selection of Ready-To-Go outfits ranging from £60 to £120. Essentially, you are buying the Rod and the Reel, and we throw in the Fluorocarbon and a selection of Fishing Flies to get you started.

For £25, you can have everything you need for a fishing session on the Bait Loch, including your Permit, Rod Hire, Reel Hire, Fluorocarbon, Hook and a selection of Live Bait.

Similarly for fishing on the Fly Loch, a Catch and Release Day Permit, along with the hire of a Rod set-up with Reel, Fluorocarbon and fly, will cost £25.

Cost of net hire is included with fishing permits (we just ask for a £5 returnable deposit).

We don’t offer boat fishing – it’s all bank fishing. The boats are just there to do maintenance on the loch.

There’s even a fish cleaning, deboning and filleting service available. Plus, you may have your catch cooked for you, for lunch – ask for details!

Giving Back:

At The Waterfront, we're committed to our community, hosting regular fundraisers and charity events to support local causes.

Beginners & Kids Fishing Guide

Bait Loch

It’s a good idea for beginners to start on the Bait Loch. There’s no catch and release here – only catch and keep. So, that makes it easier to actually catch the fish. Every week or two there’s a restocking of the Bait Loch, including some very large fish, to keep the interest of kids and beginners. There’s a large turnover of fish in the Bait Loch. This ensures healthy strong fighting fish. We maintain a minimum of 150 trout in the Bait Loch.

Kiddies Corner (Fly Loch)

Lots of resident brown trout come from Kiddie’s Corner. It’s a sheltered area with lots of tree cover and is the most shallow part of the loch. It’s ideal for kids to fish, as the water is crystal clear, and they can see the fish using polaroid sunglasses.

We do everything to keep the water clear and thus the fish healthy. We don’t use any chemicals at all – we remove all the weed by hand. Which is manpower intensive – but its worth it. With the clarity in the water the fish are easy to spot with polaroids. It’s even possible for kids to stalk for a particular fish.

Some people ask if we offer a tagged fish competition. We do not, since in the gin clear waters, it would be too easy for tagged fish to be identified and stalked.

Facilities

Disabled Access

Disabled toilets are available in the main restaurant.   We allow people to take their cars down to the waters edge, if they are disabled or hard of walking. Cars can be taken to the Bait Loch or to the Fly Loch, as required. The Fly Loch has a disabled platform, with a bench, that you can park right beside.

Kids Facilities

Situated between the Restaurant and the Bait Loch, we have a Kids Play Park featuring Zip Line, Swings and Roundabout.  There’s also a grassy area in front of the Bait Loch for families to picnic or put up a fishing tent for the day.

Private Function or Group Bookings

We offer combined tickets for groups to enjoy and can tailor a package depending upon requirements. For example, it’s popular among fishing clubs, to book in for a complete package of breakfast, lunch, tea & coffee all day, and a catch and release fishing permit as well.  With a booking of 25 rods, the price of this would be £35 per person.

For each 25 rods booked, groups and clubs are able to exclusively book out the Bait Loch, or the Fly Loch.  The grassy area next to the Bait Loch, may also be used to erect a gazebo for group events.
